Addresses how to conduct research and write about contemporary Chinese culture from interdisciplinary and comparative perspectives; introduces critical theory and comparative and interdisciplinary approaches. Engages students in current debates about the rise of China and its implications for social and human values and cultures. Taught in English. Prerequisite: advanced knowledge of Chinese. Original research projects to explore with primary and secondary materials. One course / 3 units.
