Chuxu Lu studies Chinese literature and cultural history from the late imperial to the contemporary China. With a particular focus on human-animal relationship, she is interested in literature’s intersection with animal studies, gender studies, and film/ media studies. She received her bachelor degree in Chinese Language and Literature from Peking University with a minor in Spanish studies. After coursework in East Asian studies and English literature at Stanford University and the University of Cambridge, she finishes her Master degree in Critical Asian Humanities program at Duke University, with her thesis entitled "Narrating Cats and Cat Lovers in Modern China: Animality, Subjectivity, and Media Space."
