Diaspora & Refugees

AMES courses and faculty research adopt a multi-disciplinary approach to exploring refugee movements, immigration, and global diasporas in the Middle East and Asia. Faculty are committed particularly to cross-regional analyses of migrant flows—and corresponding questions of adaptation, assimilation, and settlement. Faculty research focuses on refugees fleeing war, interactions between colonizers and colonized, immigration to the United States and the Americas, and the Jewish and Palestinian diasporas. Faculty particularly look at cultural artifacts documenting and analyzing the implications of these migratory flows.
