Gateway Seminar: Comparative Slavery

AMES 154S

This course takes a comparative approach to the history of slavery as it unfolded across different regions of the world from the fifteenth to the nineteenth centuries. It embraces a transnational perspective centering not only on the Atlantic world (including North America, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe and West Africa), but also on the Indian Ocean, from Madagascar to India and to Indonesia.
