Professor Yan Liu Receives 2025 ACTFL Professional Award

The AMES department is proud to announce that Yan Liu, Associate Professor of the Practice and Director of the Chinese Language Program, has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) Professional Awards, which recognize outstanding contributions to the advancement of language education.

Professor Liu received the Klett Award for Sustainable Development Education in the World Language Classroom, an honor that highlights innovative approaches to integrating sustainability into language teaching and learning. This national recognition reflects her leadership and commitment to expanding the role of world language education in addressing global challenges.

The award will be formally presented at the 2025 ACTFL Annual Convention & World Languages Expo (Nov.21-23), the premier gathering of language educators from across the country and around the world.
