Issues in Korean Language and Society II

KOREAN 408S

Introduces modern and contemporary Korean literature, films and documentaries relating to local and global issues, such as environmental disaster, gender inequality, increasing wealth inequality and power asymmetries. Readings and discussion focus on gaining embodied understanding of the topics, investigating social and political contexts, specific and broad, and analyzing and exploring varied perspectives. Prerequisite: KOR 306 or formal education in Korean at Grade school level. Students with equivalent preparation to the prerequisite course should contact instructor for a permission number.
